The 10 Best (& Worst) Framing Practices

Joe Stoddard — President, Mountain Consulting Group
May 15th at 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM, Room: Solar Room

The 10 WORST (and Best) Framing Practices

Your houses are only as good as their frames.  Drywall and paint issues, cracking tile, moisture and mold problems, squeaky floors, windows, doors and cabinets that don’t operate like they should….  These and countless other “warranty” problems can often be traced right back to what your framers are (or are not) doing.  And what about costs?  It’s not unusual for us to find $1500-2000 (or more) of lumber products and sheet goods in every house being improperly used or just plain wasted… thrown in the dumpster or in a pile on the (future) lawn. That’s your profit being turned into kindling wood!  This session exposes what your framers may be doing wrong (and right), complete with plenty of practical advice you can use to find… and fix… the worst framing practices in your operation.

What You Will Learn:

  1. Learn to recognize the most wasteful (and dangerous) framing practices in your operation.
  2. Understand how framing issues can create problems with every trade that comes later, increasing your warranty exposure and reducing customer satisfaction.
  3. Learn how to develop and implement consistent construction details that will minimize framing variances and waste, while increasing quality.
  4. Learn which of the APA’sc “advanced framing techniques” are practical (and profitable), and which are creating more problems than they solve.
