Matt Winter’s work at TradeTrax guides the development of technology that enables the most forward-thinking goals of production homebuilders.

 

In his career in production homebuilding, Matt implemented a production system that replaced top-down management of the schedule with resource-focused cadencing, geographic optimization, and collaborative communication between trades. After transitioning to a corporate role to scale this system up across the company, he taught that every production homebuilder shares the same labor resources, so every market is essentially a decentralized factory and that scheduling is a myopic view of what is fundamentally a network efficiency problem. Although the premise caught on, the industry lacked the systems to capture the basic production metrics that production philosophies like TOC, Lean, or Agile require.

 

Today, Matt designs the technology he wishes he’d had when he was a builder.
